Stock Market Update Wednesday April 8, 2026 Stock prices increased significantly today, while crude oil prices dropped below $100 due to a possible ceasefire agreement that could allow tankers to pass through the Strait again. This confirms what stock markets expected, as concerns about geopolitical risks decreased before the announcement. Most sectors experienced gains, except for energy, which declined due to the drop in oil prices. Industrials, materials, and technology sectors saw the biggest increases. However, within the technology sector, there were mixed results. Some software companies, like Microsoft and Salesforce, which were already struggling, saw their initial gains disappear after the market opened.

Score Board:

  • SPY: +2.55%

  • QQQ: +2.97%

  • IWM: +2.99%

Away From Stocks: Oil fell ~15% to $96/barrel, like pre-spike levels, but remains elevated due to geopolitical issues. The VIX fell to 21, signaling reduced but persistent macro risk. Treasury yields dipped initially, then rose to 4.29% post-FOMC, reflecting inflation/policy reassessment. The USD weakened with oil, DXY near 99. Gold rose to $4,750

In our long-term portfolio, we focus exclusively on high-quality companies with a demonstrated history of operational excellence and consistent shareholder value creation. However, in our short-term speculative portfolio, some stocks we post may be driven by other factors, such as notable options flow, proprietary algorithms and seasonality. We rely on our proprietary algorithms to identify high-probability entry points, whether to initiate new positions or to strategically add to existing holdings.
