Stock Market Update Tuesday June 2, 2026 Stocks finished modestly higher, with the S&P 500 gaining 0.1% after quickly reversing early weakness as investors continued to bid up semiconductor names. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) surged another 6%, extending its powerful momentum and providing the primary source of leadership for the broader market.


Away From Stocks: Treasury securities were little changed to slightly firmer, with the 30-year Treasury yield easing to 4.97% from 4.99% on Monday. WTI crude oil settled just below $94 per barrel, while gold advanced to $4,489 per ounce. Bitcoin remained under pressure, trading near $67,000, as risk appetite within digital assets continued to deteriorate. Meanwhile, the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) drifted below 16, signaling continued investor complacency and favorable financial conditions despite elevated geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties.
