Stock Market Update Tuesday July 22, 2025 Markets closed mixed following a volatile morning session that put dip buyers to the test. Despite early downside pressure, key support levels largely held for a second consecutive session, allowing equities to stabilize into the close. The Nasdaq underperformed, weighed down by continued selling in semiconductor names, while small caps staged a modest recovery following the previous day’s weakness.

  • Nasdaq 100 (QQQ): -0.5%

  • Russell 2000 (IWM): +0.8%


Away From Stocks: Treasurys saw notable demand, with yields declining across the curve. The 2-year yield slipped to 3.84%, while the 30-year yield eased to 4.90%, reflecting a bid for duration. In commodities, WTI crude pulled back toward $65 per barrel, suggesting easing supply concerns or weakening demand sentiment. Gold maintained its upward momentum, trading firmly at $3,429 per ounce. Meanwhile, Bitcoin reclaimed ground above $119,000, and volatility expectations remained subdued, with the VIX settling just below 17.
