Stock Market Update Monday December 15, 2025 Market Recap:An early gap higher in equities quickly faded, with major indices spending most of the session in the red as year-end portfolio rotations continued to pressure Technology and AI-related names. Meanwhile, Financials, Industrials, and Consumer Staples outperformed on a defensive rotation, benefiting from sector rebalancing into year-end.

Score Board:

  • S&P 500 (SPX) −0.2%

  • Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) −0.5%

  • Russell 2000 (IWM) −0.8%

Away From Stocks: Early strength in Treasury yields initially provided some support to risk sentiment, but both equities and bonds reversed course into the afternoon. The U.S. 10-year yield (US10Y) ended marginally lower at 4.18%, suggesting limited follow-through in duration demand. Gold held near record highs, reflecting continued demand for hard assets amid macro uncertainty. Conversely, Crude Oil extended its recent slide, down another 1.5%, marking multi-year lows and raising attention toward potential energy market dislocations. The U.S. Dollar finished modestly weaker, while the VIX ticked higher to 16.50, as investors braced for a heavy macro data slate beginning tomorrow.
