Stock Market Update Friday April 12, 2024 Once again we had a fair amount of volatility. Stocks experienced a downward pressure as the S&P 500 recorded a 1.4% decline, marking its second consecutive weekly loss.
Away From Stocks: Treasuries managed to trim their recent losses, with 2- and 30-year yields concluding at 4.88% and 4.61%, respectively. Despite being down five and four basis points on the session, they exhibited an increase from 4.73% and 4.54% last Friday. WTI crude surrendered a substantial early gain, hovering just below $86 a barrel. Meanwhile, gold surged to $2,427 per ounce before sharply reversing course to $2,344. Additionally, the VIX settled above 17, signaling an increase of more than two points for the day.
