Stock Market Update Wednesday August 13, 2025 Equities extended yesterday’s breakout, buoyed by optimism ahead of tomorrow’s PPI release and initial jobless claims data. The S&P 500 (SPX) ended off session highs as weakness in select mega-cap names tempered gains. Conversely, small-cap stocks continued to outperform, driven by renewed rate-cut expectations—sending the Russell 2000 (IWM) up +5% over the past two sessions and nearly +10% month-to-date.


Session performance: SPX +0.3%, QQQ flat, IWM +2.0%.


Away From Stocks: Treasury yields declined across the curve, with the 10-year yield (US10Y) slipping to 4.24%. In commodities, crude oil eased modestly for a second day, gold posted a minor rebound, and the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) dipped back below 98.
