Stock Market Update Wednesday 9/11 Whipsaw Wednesday on Wall Street Stocks Rebound from Early Selloff In a volatile session, stocks rebounded sharply after an early selloff, with major indices recovering to close higher. The S&P 500 rose 1.07%, the Nasdaq gained 2.17%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, after dropping nearly 750 points, closed up 0.31%.

Afternoon buying in mega-cap tech and semiconductor stocks drove the turnaround. Nvidia surged 8% following comments from its CEO, while AMD gained nearly 5%. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) increased by 5%. Technology was the best-performing sector, rising 3%, while Consumer Staples lagged, falling 1%.
