Stock Market Update — Tuesday, September 9, 2025U.S. equities extended their low-volatility grind higher, with the S&P 500 reclaiming record highs ahead of this week’s critical two-day inflation data. Today’s gains came in spite of another round of downward revisions to the past year’s payroll figures, underscoring market resilience in the face of softening labor trends.

  • Nasdaq 100 (QQQ): +0.3%

  • Russell 2000 (IWM): -0.6%


Away From Stocks: Treasuries stalled their recent rally as investors positioned for August PPI and CPI prints due Tuesday and Wednesday. The 2-year yield rose 5 bps to 3.54%, while the 30-year yield ticked up to 4.72% from 4.69% on Monday.

In commodities, WTI crude inched toward $63/barrel, gold consolidated near $3,631/oz, and Bitcoin hovered around $111,000. The VIX remained subdued, holding just above 15, signaling a continued complacency in risk sentiment.
