Stock Market Update Tuesday September 2, 2025 Stocks came under pressure early but staged a resilient late-session rebound, trimming the S&P 500’s decline to 0.7%.
On the day, SPX -0.7%, QQQ -0.8%, IWM -0.6%.
Away From Stocks: Treasury weakness pushed yields higher, with the 2-year closing at 3.66% (+7 bps) and the 30-year at 4.97% (+5 bps).
Commodities were mixed: WTI crude firmed toward $66/barrel, while gold surged nearly 2% to a record $3,536/oz, underscoring safe-haven demand. In digital assets, Bitcoin edged higher to $111,000, while volatility eased as the VIX slipped below 18, after briefly spiking above 19 intraday.
