Stock Market Update Tuesday September 16, 2025 Stocks finally snapped their extended winning streak, but only by the slimmest of margins, as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 eked out fractional losses after a session defined by lethargic, range-bound trading.
Away From Stocks: Treasury's saw modest bull-steepening ahead of tomorrow’s Fed decision, with two-year yields slipping three basis points to 3.51% and the long bond easing to 4.65% from 4.66%. In commodities, WTI crude firmed toward $65 a barrel, gold edged closer to $3,700, and Bitcoin climbed near $117,000. Meanwhile, volatility picked up slightly as the VIX advanced for a second straight day, finishing just above 16 in an otherwise subdued tape.
