Stock Market Update Tuesday August 26, 2025 Equities: U.S. equities opened modestly in the red, but dip-buying quickly took hold, lifting major indices into positive territory. The rebound fully retraced yesterday’s decline and leaves markets in a holding pattern ahead of tomorrow’s highly anticipated Nvidia earnings. Broad benchmarks are now trading near levels seen immediately post-Jackson Hole.
On the session: S&P 500 +0.4%, Nasdaq 100 +0.4%, Russell 2000 +0.8%.
Away From Stocks: The 30-year Treasury yield closed at 4.89%, edging just 1 basis point higher as investors largely stayed on the sidelines.
Commodities & Alternatives: WTI crude retreated toward $63/barrel, while gold strengthened to $3,390/oz. In digital assets, Bitcoin climbed back above $111,000, while equity volatility softened, with the VIX settling at 15.
