Stock Market Update Thursday May 21, 2026 The S&P 500 posted a marginal gain of 0.2%, consolidating the previous session’s advances to hover just below historical highs.
Away From Stocks: Treasury curve flattened; the 2-year yield firmed by four basis points to 4.08%, while the 30-year bond nudged lower to 5.11% from 5.10%. In commodities and digital assets, WTI crude softened to trade below $98 a barrel, gold eked out a modest gain at $4,542 per ounce, and Bitcoin continued to consolidate horizontally near the $78,000 threshold. Meanwhile, the VIX retreated below 17, marking its most compressed reading since the onset of the conflict.
