Stock Market Update Monday January 26, 2026 Today shaped up as an early litmus test of last week’s rebound, with overnight futures signaling a lower open. However, dip buyers stepped in during the pre-market session, pushing equities into positive territory at the open. That bid held for most of the day, with only minor late-session profit-taking, leaving the S&P 500 just a stone’s throw from record highs.
Score Board:
S&P 500 (SPX): +0.5%
NASDAQ 100 (QQQ): +0.4%
Russell 2000 (IWM): -0.4%
Away From Stocks: Treasurys also found support, with yields moving lower across the curve. The 2-year and 30-year yields declined by four and two basis points, respectively, to 3.56% and 4.80%, signaling modest demand for duration. WTI crude slipped below $61 per barrel, while gold consolidated just above $5,000, after briefly testing $5,100 earlier in the session. Bitcoin traded near $88,000, and volatility remained contained, with the VIX holding just above 15.

Our investment approach is disciplined and long-only. We do not engage in short selling. In our long-term portfolio, we focus exclusively on high-quality companies with a demonstrated history of operational excellence and consistent shareholder value creation. However, in our short-term speculative portfolio, some stocks we post may be driven by other factors, such as notable options flow, proprietary algorithms and seasonality. We rely on our proprietary algorithms to identify high-probability entry points, whether to initiate new positions or to strategically add to existing holdings.
