Stock Market Update Friday September 26, 2025 Equities staged a constructive rebound today following three consecutive down sessions. The recovery was underpinned by an in-line PCE report, while softer consumer sentiment failed to dampen risk appetite. Mega-cap AI/tech names led the advance alongside small-cap equities. For the week, the S&P 500 slipped a modest -0.3%, finishing nearly +1% above its intraweek trough.
Score Board: SPX +0.6%, QQQ +0.4%, IWM +0.9%.
Away From Stocks: Treasury curve steepened modestly. The 2-year yield edged lower to 3.63% from 3.64%, while the long bond added two basis points to 4.77%.
Commodities and alternatives painted a mixed picture. WTI crude held firm above $65/bbl, gold rallied to a record $3,765/oz, and Bitcoin consolidated its recent selloff around $109,000. Meanwhile, implied volatility eased, with the VIX down 1.5 points into the mid-15s.
